To help reduce the number of people on campus, parent/guardian and guest visits will be limited. Staff members may continue to work remotely as their responsibilities allow.
LJCDS values the partnership between families and educators. Albeit virtually, we will continue to offer opportunities for parent coffees, workshops, PA meetings and more.
Lunches will be available and delivered to students in kindergarten and Grades 1–12 in their cohorts. Parents/students will have an opportunity to pre-order lunch. SAGE Dining Services® remains committed to providing a variety of quality and healthy options that accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions. Please do not bring products with peanuts and tree nuts.
SAGE has implemented additional inspections and precautionary measures of the facility and food preparations to ensure the health and safety of all community members. All SAGE employees are ServSafe® COVID-19 certified and will undergo daily temperature and wellness checks.
Details about ordering lunch will be available in August.
Students have the option to bring their own lunch to campus. We kindly ask parents not to send any food into school for their children to share with others, e.g. birthday cakes or class snacks, until further notice. Individual snacks for children are, of course, still permitted. Please avoid bringing products with peanuts and tree nuts.
LJCDS has secured more buses to ensure every route will continue as scheduled while adhering to physical distancing. Seating will be spaced at least 6 feet apart by blocking off every other seat, alternating on each side of the school bus. Students will be loaded back to front to reduce contact.
Early Care/Extended Day
We know several of our families rely on our Extended Care options. As our first priority is the health and safety of our community, this service will be modified. Morning drop off for Extended Care will start at 7:30 a.m. We are still finalizing plans for Extended Day.
Physical Education - ECC–Grade 6
Lower and Middle School students will participate in physical education outdoors and in the gym with other members of their cohorts. They will not be changing into PE uniforms and should plan on wearing appropriate clothing/shoes for PE to school.
Athletics - Grades 7–12
The South Coast Middle School League and CIF have not determined how/if Middle School (SCMSL) and Upper School (CIF) athletics will return in the fall. The CIF plans to provide more details on July 20. LJCDS will follow all state, San Diego County and CIF guidelines when/if we return to competition. The school will provide safe and healthy opportunities for activity, fitness and skill development in the event CIF competition does not return in the fall. We will keep you informed as we learn more.
Until further notice, all school trips, including Outdoor Education and Experiential Education, are on hold for the remainder of this school year.
